Exploring Hong Kong Through my lens
The purpose of life is to live it, to taste it, to experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”

This is technically a "cheat" post as I know Wanchai very well, but I couldn't resist showing off where we live.
Looking through these images it's hard to believe that Simon and I actually call this neck of the woods home...but I wouldn't have it any other way!
Wanchai is one of Hong Kong's busiest neighborhoods - it is home to bustling markets, pet shops, graffiti lined alleyways and interesting people - LOTS of people! It's loud, its chaotic and there are thousands of people walking the streets at most times of the day and night.
The tram goes past our bedroom window, the MTR underground train station is across the road, and there is an outdoor meat, fish & veggie market about 200m from my front door! Wanchai is often described as the "heart of the city" and many say it represents the embodiment of Hong Kong lifestyle.
I love the energy of the streets and it will always have a soft spot in my heart.
This is where I first lived when I moved to Hong Kong 3 years ago...a very sweet friend of a friend took me in and let me stay in his apartment until I was on my feet - one of the kindest things anyone has ever done for me. Chris and I are great friends today and I am forever grateful to him! He also introduced me to Lexi who has lived in HK for almost 10 years! I loved my first two weeks in HK and she was a huge part of that! She & Chris also happen to live one street away from us which is a-ma-zing!!
Wanchai is filled with an impressive array of local and western restaurants and bars...there are new ones popping up all the time! Star Street is home to some really cute and quirky spots! ...Cocktails, truffle fries & taco's @ Ted's Lookout, lazy day cappuccino's at Amicol, Spanish tapas & Cava at Plaza Mayor, French food HEAVEN at Le Fleur, Best eggs benedict at Classified, Fat glasses of Sauvi B at The Pawn and of course, Oolaa Petite - always a firm favorite for hearty comfort food!
The Wanch (as it is affectionately known) is also home to Dusk 'til Dawn...I think I am one of the few people that genuinely LOVES a night at DTD. It is a complete dive bar but the live band that start playing at 10:30pm are phenomenal!! I have skipped many a daytime gym session to rather do my 'cardio' at night.
I hope you love my stomping ground as much as I do!
